Local Rules

new local rule

The Board has approved the following local rule for balls that come to rest in a footprint in a bunker at Diamond Bar Golf Course.

Effective Saturday, February 21:

If your ball lies in a footprint in a bunker, you may lift the ball, rake and smooth the affected area, and then “drop” the ball back into the sand as near as possible to its original position without penalty.  Do not place the ball in the sand, it must be dropped from knee level.

At least one other player in your foursome must agree that the ball was in a footprint in order to proceed under this local rule.

Rangefinders

A reminder about rangefinders during a home tournament and match play:

Under United States Golf Association (USGA) distance-measuring devices (rangefinders) are allowed but:

  • You may use them only for distance.

  • You may NOT use slope/elevation adjustments, wind readings, club recommendations, or similar features.

  • If your device has slope, it must be turned off during the round.

  • You may use slope during the Saturday games because those are neither a tournament or match play (unless you are playing a match)

This applies to:

  • Home and Away tournaments

  • Match play competitions

Penalty:

Using slope during a round:

  • First breach: General penalty (2 strokes in stroke play / loss of hole in match play)

  • Second breach: Disqualification

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns, Thank you for your understanding,

JJ Garzone – Home Tournament Chairman

Paul Kaye – Away Tournament Chairman

Score Recording & Verification Procedures

The following announcement shall serve as formal notice regarding score recording procedures for all of our events.

  1. ONE (1) physical scorecard will serve as the OFFICIAL scorecard for each group and must be used to record the scores of ALL players within the group. FIRST AND LAST NAME MUST BE LEGIBLE. At the conclusion of the round, ALL players within the group must sign the scorecard (example: a foursome requires 4 signatures).

Immediately following the completion of the round and after all scores have been verified and signed, the designated Scorer must send a photo of the scorecard to the Men’s Club email. [email protected]

It is the responsibility of ALL players within the group to verify the accuracy of the scores recorded on the physical scorecard before submission.

  1. The Squabbit app will serve as the secondary/backup method for score recording (App is the primary method to calculate winnings and prize distribution). One player within the group will be designated as the official Scorer responsible for entering scores into the app. However, ALL players within the group are responsible for verifying the accuracy of the scores entered into the app during the round.
  1. In the event of discrepancies between the Squabbit app and the physical scorecard, the physical scorecard shall be considered the official and controlling record. The Tournament Committee reserves the right to override and correct scores entered in the app to match the physical scorecard.
  1. The following rules and penalties will apply:
  1. a) Players will have 15 minutes after completion of the round to review and request any corrections in the app. Once the 15-minute period has expired and the Tournament Chairman has officially closed the competition, all submitted scores will be considered final.

If a copy of the physical scorecard is not received within 15 minutes after completion of the round, ALL players within the group will be disqualified.

  1. b) The physical scorecard must contain signatures from ALL players within the group. Failure to obtain all required signatures will result in a TWO-STROKE penalty for ALL players within the group.
  2. c) In the event of any discrepancy between the scores recorded in the app and the official physical scorecard, the Tournament Committee will correct the app scores to match the physical scorecard, which shall serve as the official record.

If the discrepancy is determined to be an unintentional recording or clerical error, no additional penalty will apply. However, any evidence of intentional misrepresentation, manipulation, or falsification of scores, whether resulting in a higher or lower score in the app, may result in DISQUALIFICATION at the discretion of the Tournament Committee.

No further warnings will be given.

Thank you for your attention and cooperation.
