Good evening DBMC Members,
I hope this message finds you well. I would like to take a moment to share some important updates from our Men’s Club.
Club Status
- As of today, we are proud to have 144 Full Time Regular Members in our club.
- Up-to-date, the Club has successfully conducted nine official events: four Home Tournaments (Sundays), one Away Tournament, and four Non-Tournament rounds (Saturdays) at DBGC.
- Our average participation for these events was as follows: 41 players for Home Tournaments, 32 players for the Away Tournament, and 22 players for the Non-Tournament rounds.
- We now have a new Bulletin Board available for both Members and prospective members to view upcoming and past events; important announcements, etc.
- Please note that the course will undergo green aerification on Monday, April 28th.
- All event sign-ups, deposits, and payouts are now processed electronically.
- We are currently in the process of updating our website. Members are encouraged to send in group photos for inclusion.
Board Member Updates
- Joe Cho, a long-time member and our former Home Tournament Chairman, has officially retired from his position. Joe has played a vital role in our club—managing communications with course management, overseeing sign-ups for major events, maintaining the electronic scoring system, and coordinating payment distributions. Joe, we thank you for your outstanding service and wish you all the best in retirement—you will be greatly missed.
- Beto Arteaga, who joined the Board earlier this year with a focus on website redesign, has stepped down due to unforeseen health issues. We wish Beto a full and speedy recovery.
- Luis Alva, previously serving as the Away Tournament Assistant, has stepped away from his role following a well-deserved job promotion. Congratulations, Luis—we wish you continued success!
- JJ Garzone, another long-standing member, joined the Board recently and will now serve as our Home Tournament Chairman.
- Stephen Collins joined the Board earlier this month and will be taking on the role of Website Developer and Bulletin Board Chairman.
- We continue to welcome and encourage members to volunteer for Board positions.
Upcoming Events
- Our second Away Tournament is scheduled for Sunday, May 4th, at La Mirada. Spots are still available for those interested in participating.
- The Costa Mesa Men’s Club has kindly invited our members to join their annual Coronado/San Diego trip, also scheduled for Sunday, May 4th. If interested, please contact our Treasurer, Bob Callanan, at [email protected].
- We are currently coordinating with the course to schedule our May Home Tournament—dates will be announced soon.
- This year’s Club Championship is set for June. The championship will consist of two mandatory rounds, with an option for a single-round participation (either Saturday or Sunday). Full details will follow.
