Looking Ahead to 2026 – Updates and Important Information

Happy New Year

Good morning members,

First of all, thank you to everyone for a great 2025. Without all of you, the Men’s Club would not be successful. We hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas, and we look forward to making 2026 even better.

Looking ahead to 2026, our collective goal is to continue building on this momentum. As a group, we will focus on:

  • Enhancing our events by offering more team play opportunities
  • Increasing participation in both home and away events
  • Improving communication through our website and regular emails
  • Introducing a wider variety of games beyond gross and net skins

We are also looking for additional volunteers to serve as Away Tournament Chairman and Secretary. If you are interested in helping support the club in either role, please feel free to reach out.

On behalf of the club, we would like to extend our sincere gratitude to our outgoing Board Members for the time, effort, and dedication they have given to the Diamond Bar Men’s Club—especially Eddie Padilla, Paul Davis, Joseph Cho, and Joe Herrera. Their contributions have helped move the club forward and are greatly appreciated.

Important Updates for 2026

 

New Member Policy (Effective January 1, 2026)
When a new member joins the Diamond Bar Men’s Club, they will play their first two events at 70% of their current handicap. The purpose of this policy is to establish baseline scores within our club and help protect the field.

 

Event Schedule

  • Home tournaments: Usually the first Sunday of the month
  • Saturday games: Usually the third Saturday of the month
  • Away tournaments: Typically scheduled for the second Sunday of the month

 

Payment and Cancellation Policies – Home & Saturday Events

  • A $25.00 payment is required to secure a spot for home tournaments and Saturday games.
  • Cancellations must be made by 9:00 AM on the Monday prior to the event to receive a refund.
  • Cancellations after that time will forfeit the $25.00, which will go toward the Christmas fund for course staff.
  • If we are unable to fill your spot, you will also be responsible for the walking greens fee, as the course charges the club for open spots.
  • The same policy applies for no-shows.

 

Payment and Cancellation Policies – Away Events

  • To secure a spot, members must pay the full greens fee for the course plus $25.00 for the cash game.
  • Because the course must be paid in advance, cancellations must be made at least 8 days prior to the event to receive a refund of the greens fee.
  • Cancellations after that deadline will forfeit the entire amount unless we can fill your spot. The $25.00 will go toward the Christmas fund for course staff.

Scoring
We will continue using the Squabbit App for live scoring at all events. After your round, please ensure that someone in your group emails a photo of the completed scorecard (all four players) to the Diamond Bar Men’s Club email address.

 

Match Play Tournament
In 2026, we will hold a Match Play Tournament.

  • The qualifier will be the February Home Tournament.
  • The top 32 players (16 from each flight) will advance.
  • After qualifying, players will coordinate match dates with their assigned opponents.  Your match must be completed by the next home tournament (first match would need to be completed by the March Home Tournament and so forth).
  • Winners will advance round by round until a champion is determined in each flight.
  • Each flight champion will receive a prize and be recognized as the Club Match Play Champion for their flight.

 

Club Championship
The Club Championship will take place in June as a two-day tournament (Saturday and Sunday).

  • Qualification will be based on participation points earned throughout the year.
  • Champions will be crowned in the following categories:
    • Club Champion
    • Senior Club Champion (55+)
    • A Flight Champion
    • B Flight Champion
