For your matches on Saturday, February 21, you will be playing to 75% of your handicap. You will use the “Shots Off” (SO) method based on the GHIN App calculator. This means the lower handicap player in each match will play to a zero handicap and give strokes to their opponent based on 75% of the handicap difference.
For example, I am playing Bruce Bates, whose index is 12.3, and mine is 7.6. Based on 75% of the difference in our handicaps, I will give him 4 strokes for the match.
I have included screenshots from the GHIN App to show how to calculate the stroke difference for your match.
For the cash game, we will use your full (normal) handicap, which is separate from the match play calculation.
I hope this helps clarify the process. If you have any questions, please let me know — I’m happy to help you determine the correct handicap for your match.
