Good afternoon fellow Members,
The inaugural President’s Cup Match Play Championship has officially concluded, and what a fitting finish it was to a season-long competition that showcased some of the best match-play golf our club has to offer.
After weeks of head-to-head competition, two champions emerged and etched their names into club history as the first-ever President’s Cup winners.
A Flight Championship
The A Flight final featured a showdown between the tournament’s top two seeds: #1 James Snider and #2 Aaron Kusnowo.
James’s steady play throughout the front nine proved to be the difference as he gradually built a commanding lead. Despite Aaron’s efforts to stay within striking distance, James consistently capitalized on scoring opportunities and maintained control of the match.
A brief rally by Aaron on the back nine was answered immediately, and James ultimately closed out the championship on the 14th hole with a convincing 6 & 4 victory. His consistency and ability to win key holes throughout the round earned him the title of inaugural President’s Cup A Flight Champion.
B Flight Championship
The B Flight final featured #6 Tom Boucher taking on #12 Michael Gonzalez, who entered the championship match after an impressive run through the bracket.
Unlike the A Flight final, the B Flight championship remained tightly contested for much of the day. Both players traded pars and bogeys while battling through the challenging layout at Diamond Bar Golf Club. Tom’s steady ball-striking and disciplined course management allowed him to slowly build an advantage, but Michael continued to battle and never allowed the match to become one-sided.
The turning point came during the middle stretch of the back nine, where Tom won several key holes to create separation. Michael continued to press but was unable to string together enough momentum to mount a comeback. Tom eventually secured the championship with a 3 & 2 victory, becoming the inaugural President’s Cup B Flight Champion.

- A personalized Engraved Hydro Flask
- Permanent recognition with their names etched on the President’s Cup Perpetual Trophy
The official trophy presentation ceremony will take place during our Year-End Members Meeting, where we will recognize our inaugural champions and celebrate another successful season of club competition.
